Reel Maintenance & Repair

Occasionally, reels need some love and care: drags malfunction, springs break or dirt gets into where it shouldn’t.  If you’re not comfortable doing the work yourself, please bring it down to the shop and we can either services small needs in house, or ship the reel out to the manufacture for larger more complex jobs.

Reel Spooling

Getting the right amount of backing with the correct tension on your spool can be difficult on your own.  Bring your spools down to us and let us do it.   We offer free spooling for products that were purchased in the store, otherwise there is a nominal charge for the work plus the cost of the backing.

Manufacturer Repair & Warranty Processing

If you have ever snapped a rod, dented a reel, had a pair of waders or a jacket leak, you know it can be a long and burdensome process for getting your gear repaired.  Speak with one of our staff members either in person at the shop or by phone and we can advise you on what to do next.  If your broken item is a brand we carry, we’ll send it to the manufacturer or repair center to get it evaluated, repaired, and returned to your hands.  We send out warranty items very often, so you don’t have to worry about them sitting in the backroom collecting dust before they make their way out to the repair center.   Please refer to our policy page for more information on the warranty process.

Please note

We will need your entire rod (all pieces) and its case or tube to send out for repair, not just the broken section.  This also applies for your reel, bring the spool and the body of reel even if just one part is broken.

Warranties offered by manufactures are for workmanship and materials, and not user error, there is generally also a charge from the manufacturer for shipping and handling when an items is repaired, or replaced.

When you are bringing our waders, boots, or other garments, to our shop for repair or warranty process they must be washed, dry, and free of debris.  Any item that is not clean, dry, and free of debris will refused, we do not offer a garment or wader cleaning service.

Rod Repair

Some rod repairs can be done simply and cheaply without going through the entire warranty process.  Older rods, and those bought used, are likely no longer under warranty.  Repairs in these cases can be quite costly even for a minor job.  Bring it down to us and we’ll evaluate your repair needs and advise you on what can be done.

Please note: Local repairs not authorized by the manufacture may void the existing warranty of a product.
